Hey Reader,
I invite you to reflect with me this week on some of the conversations I notice are shaping energy work spaces right now - borrowed wisdom, inherited authority, displaced belonging - from a slightly different vantage point..
Women who refused
I'm thinking about Mary MacPherson (or Màiri Mhòr nan Òran, "Big Mary of the Songs").
Born on the Isle of Skye in 1821, she became one of Scotland's best-known Gaelic poets and one of the most powerful voices during the Highland Land League movement. Through poetry and song, she gave voice to the experiences of Highland communities living through dispossession, emigration, and profound social change.
What strikes me isn't simply that she refused to be silent. It's that she understood how closely land, language, culture, and identity are woven together.
It makes me wonder what our ancestors knew that we're now trying to remember.

Borrowed wisdom has an expiry date: why energy work needs cultural roots
A conversation about the rupture of Western animistic connection, why so many energy workers find themselves practising within borrowed frameworks, how gatekeeping severs us from our own authority, and the difference between training that deepens dependency and training that returns us to a direct relationship with Spirit. Release the past energetically & emotionally - Recapitulation Technique
5 minute Spirit-led reconnection practise Designed to reignite the magic of tangible, practical Spirit-led connection, this week's practice invites you find relief from difficult & painful memories by releasing the past energetically and emotionally. This is a simple way to bring back some of your personal power - your vital personal life force energy - that we can lose in many unfavourable moments of our human experience, whether consciously or unconsciously. On my path, it's the single most impactful technique I use.
MEET THE COMMUNITY:
While the Spirit-led Reiki Pathway is on summer break before our September cohort begins, I want to use this space normally "for students" to introduce you to some of those who continue to shape our community long after their Pathway experience has ended. My hope is that, through getting to know one another a little better, we continue to inspire, encourage and support each other - remembering that every path and unique expression of Spirit-led healing enriches the collective.
Meet Kristen King
Kristen is a creative, energy healer, professional coach, and shamanic seer. After decades of living in, what she terms, the masculine mind, she healed her anxiety and constant "doing", to come back to her intuitive self. Now, Kristen combines creative visioning and a deep sense of interconnectedness, to support others in returning to themselves and the path they were always meant to walk.

In her words
"The pathway opened me to Spirit-led collaboration with the elementals and Mother Earth. I no longer need to follow a prescriptive routine for healing now that my Reiki guide works intuitively with me. It was a large part of allowing me to be confident in trusting the healing energies that come forward for me to work with, rather than work that I need to shape into a mold to fit into the world."

Learning to collaborate
As you build your service, fostering a relationship with your service provider guide, you might notice how instinctively you still try to carry everything yourself.
Most of us have been taught that building a service means relying entirely upon our mind, our intellect. Yet a Spirit-led service asks something different of us. It asks us to remember that, while our knowledge and practical skills matter - as we know from our recent workshop together - we also have access to direct Spirit-led wisdom and guidance. By learning to work in relationship with this guide, you can open yourself up to insights and possibilities that you can't cultivate on our own. As you continue developing both your earthly and animistic skills, notice where you're trying to force, control, or carry something that was never yours to hold alone.

A myth to sit with: The Well of Segais
In Irish mythology, the Well of Segais was said to be a sacred source of wisdom surrounded by hazel trees. According to the stories, nine hazel trees grew around the well, dropping their nuts into the water, where they were eaten by the Salmon of Knowledge. By consuming the nuts, the salmon acquired the wisdom of the world. Whether we encounter the well as a story, a symbol, or part of a living tradition, I'm reminded that perhaps our ancestors understood wisdom as something to be entered into relationship with rather than something to be owned. Maybe that's the invitation - that we don't always need to search further afield for what we're seeking. Sometimes wisdom asks us to become still enough to recognise what has been flowing towards us all along.

Doing business differently
I've noticed over the past week how many of you are beginning to question the rules you've inherited about what success is supposed to look like. You're stepping away from the endless pressure to 'optimise', 'scale', 'perform', and instead are allowing yourselves to build businesses that reflect your values, your capacity, your relationship with Spirit, and the way you're genuinely here to serve. I've found that each time we move a little closer to what feels true, rather than what everybody else tells us we should be doing, we create more space for something that is uniquely our own.
