UNDILUTED #012

Hey Reader,

I invite you to reflect with me on conversations shaping energy work spaces this week - capital-P Purpose, what happens when teachers think they know best & what we can do if it feels like there's something more to intuition.

Women who refused

I'm thinking about Elsie Inglis.

Born in 1864, Elsie was a Scottish doctor, surgeon and suffragist who challenged the idea of what women were and weren't allowed to do. When she offered her medical services to the War Office in 1914, she was told to "go home and sit still". So she did the opposite.

Working with the Scottish Federation of Women's Suffrage Societies, she helped establish the Scottish Women's Hospitals for Foreign Service, creating medical units staffed by women and sending them to France, Serbia, Romania and Russia.

What strikes me isn't simply that she refused to accept the limitations placed around her. It's that when one door closed, she didn't spend her energy trying to persuade the people behind it to open it. She found another door.

It makes me wonder where we're still waiting for permission to do something that perhaps doesn't require anyone else's permission at all.

Spiritual advice I no longer follow (or perpetuate)

A conversation about why anger isn't something to "transcend", why our calling might not come with a capital-P grand purpose, the false binary of masculine / feminine energy, and the "forever student" trap that I've noticed can keep many of us stuck in a loop. Season 5, Episode 24

Can we promote sovereignty without selling dependency?

On giving answers, making meaning of others’ experiences, intuition as a partial lens, and the commercial problem with sovereignty.

5 minute Spirit-led reconnection practises

No cost practises inviting you to something new each week
Designed to reignite the magic of tangible, practical Spirit-led connection, we have a bank of pre-existing practises to dive into whilst the community gives feedback on how useful these continue to be, how we might evolve them, or whether it’s time to do something entirely different.

MEET SOME OF THE COMMUNITY:

Most people who come into the pathway aren't looking for someone else to tell them what to do. They already know they have something to give, a contribution to make, and people they're here to support. What they're looking for is the trust, confidence, freedom and genuine practical & spiritual skill to do that in a way that feels ethical and fully theirs - fulfilling and sustainable for themselves, meaningful for the people they serve, and contributing to something much bigger.

In their words..

"The power to keep what works for me and discard the rest."

"Everything I need to create something true and meaningful."

"I'm reclaiming my full authentic potential.”

"I've been part of organised religion most of my adult life, and am so over a right and wrong way to live, believe or do anything."

The next pathway begins in a couple of weeks, on 13 September. There’s still space if this is calling you.

FOR GRADUATES:

Root, Build, Embody

You'll likely be noticing now that these aren't just "stages" of the pathway. They're practical, Spirit-led skills you've developed not just in reclaiming your authentic medicine, but to apply in the ongoing evolution of your business, your work and your life more generally. This is the bit I really invite you to recognise: you've not just created something. You've developed the capacity to keep creating: to root into your authority, build from integrity, and embody the direction you're being called towards. You don't need someone else to show you the way. You have the skills to find your way. Does that mean you have to go it alone? Of course not. But seeking support now might feel and look very different. It can be a conscious choice to be witnessed, challenged, or reflected back to - rather than looking outside yourself for someone to tell you what to do.

A myth to sit with: The Deae Matronae

Across the Roman Rhineland, people left offerings and inscriptions to the Matronae - female deities who were often represented as three figures sitting together. There doesn't appear to be a surviving mythology explaining exactly who they were or what each one represented, but their images and dedications suggest connections with protection, fertility, abundance and particular communities or places. What strikes me is that their power wasn't represented through one all-powerful figure, but through three sitting together. We might feel an echo here of the Maiden, Mother and Crone - not as a claim about how the Matronae themselves were understood, but as a way of considering the different aspects of experience, whether within ourselves or within genuine community. Perhaps there's something here about what becomes possible when we recognise that we can hold different aspects of ourselves simultaneously, and that we don't have to embody every aspect alone - that there is strength in genuine community, too.

Bring what's arriving..

Practitioner Support monthly starts today. I'm really looking forward to our first monthly supervision next Wed 9th. Supervision is a space to bring what's actually happening in your practice with clients - questions, tricky dynamics, ethical considerations, boundaries, or things you're simply not sure about. It's not about me telling you what to do, but creating a space to reflect, explore and stay accountable to practising with integrity. I believe regular supervision is an important part of ethical practice. We don't have to do this work alone - but we do need somewhere to bring what arises.

Hey Reader, I invite you to reflect with me on conversations shaping energy work spaces this week - the stories we inherit, why questioning them can feel uncomfortable, and what it means to consider the perceived power we hold as practitioners. Women who refused I'm thinking about Nellie Bly. Born in 1864, Nellie was a journalist who challenged the limited subjects women reporters were often expected to write about. In 1887, she joined the New York World and was given an assignment to...

Hey Reader, I invite you to reflect with me on some conversations I notice shaping energy work spaces this week - conditional belonging, our own answers vs someone else's, and why many of us keep searching for what's missing.. Women who refused I'm thinking about Margaret Cavendish. Born in 1623 in England, Margaret was a writer and natural philosopher who published Observations upon Experimental Philosophy, questioning aspects of the experimental approach of the newly formed Royal Society -...

Hey Reader, I invite you to reflect with me this week on some of the conversations I notice are shaping energy work spaces right now - borrowed wisdom, inherited authority, displaced belonging - from a slightly different vantage point.. Women who refused I'm thinking about Mary MacPherson (or Màiri Mhòr nan Òran, "Big Mary of the Songs"). Born on the Isle of Skye in 1821, she became one of Scotland's best-known Gaelic poets and one of the most powerful voices during the Highland Land League...
